Final Stretch

Yes, you read that correctly. Meteor Fury is in the final stretch.  I have decided that I need to get this game out.  There are a few more things that I need to do that are crucial and, honestly, it will probably be the most time consuming.

Drawing the line

I have quickly found myself constantly adding more and more features which only led to more and more tasks that needed to be completed.  Going at this rate I would never finish this game.  It has already been nearly 2 years developing this game, albeit doing it alone.  I have drawn the proverbial line in the sand.  All new features have been completely cut-off for this release.  It makes more sense to release the new features in up-coming releases.

What needs to be done?

Device Compatibility

Programming for mobile devices is not easy.  There are so many devices out there with different screen sizes and resolutions and that makes things extremely complicated.  I am only making this for iOS, I can’t even begin to imagine what it is like for those that develop on other devices like Android, etc.  This is a must before anything is released.

Level Creation

I touched on this in my last post.  Now that my level editor is complete, I can focus on the creation of levels.  This is both a pain in the ass and a lot of fun at the same time.  It’s a pain because you need to be careful not to make something too easy that doesn’t challenge a player and at the same time not making it too hard where it frustrates them.  It is a balancing act.

So when is it going to be released?

I must have said that I was going to release this game many times.  There were a lot of false starts, but I need to just buckle down and get it done.  I will have a better grasp on a date range next month as the next few weeks are going to be focusing on the two things I talked about above.  So, yeah, the release will be in the summer at some time. Hopefully sooner than later.
